01
About Online Therapy
Every Guiding Hope session is held by secure video. Our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you need to be physically located in Texas during your sessions.
Many people find online therapy easier to keep up with because there is no drive, no parking, and no waiting room. You will want a private space, a steady connection, and headphones if others are nearby.
02
About Cost and Insurance
Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it is worth confirming your benefits before your first session. If you are out of network, the practice can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for reimbursement.
Self-pay is welcome, and provisionally licensed clinicians offer a lower-cost option under supervision. Ask about current self-pay rates during your free consultation. Please give at least 48 hours notice to cancel or reschedule; late cancellations and missed sessions carry a fee.
03
About Fit
Fit matters more than almost anything else in therapy. The free consultation is there so you can ask questions and be matched with a clinician whose focus and style suit you.
If you work with someone and it does not feel right, say so. Changing clinicians within the practice is a normal part of finding the right match.
04
What We Do Not Treat
Guiding Hope provides outpatient talk therapy. We do not treat substance use disorders, eating disorders, or psychotic disorders as a primary focus, and we are not a crisis or emergency service.
Guiding Hope provides scheduled outpatient therapy and is not a crisis service. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. If you are in crisis or thinking about suicide, call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at any hour.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a diagnosis to start therapy?
No. Many people start therapy because something feels heavy or stuck. If you use insurance, your clinician will explain what documentation your plan requires.
Who will I see?
After your consultation you are matched with one of our clinicians based on what you need, their focus areas, and availability.
Can teens start therapy online?
Yes. Several of our clinicians work with teens. A parent or guardian is involved in getting started, and your clinician will explain how privacy works for teens.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Janell Goler is our primary evening and weekend clinician. Ashley Gutierrez also offers daytime, evening, and weekend telehealth. Ask about current openings during your consultation.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. Our clinicians provide therapy. If medication may help, we can talk about working alongside your doctor or a psychiatric prescriber.
