01

What College Students Bring to Therapy

Academic pressure, perfectionism, living away from home for the first time, roommate and relationship stress, questions about identity and sexuality, financial worry, and the sense that everyone else has it figured out. Many students also carry anxiety or ADHD that was manageable in high school and is suddenly not.

Young adults are one of the age groups Guiding Hope serves, and high-achieving students and young adults with anxiety are exactly who our team wants to help.

02

Why Online Therapy Works for Students

Campus counseling centers are valuable, and they often have waitlists or session limits. Online therapy lets you keep working with the same clinician across a semester, over breaks, and when you move between home and campus, as long as you are in Texas during sessions.

Janell Goler is our primary evening and weekend clinician. Ashley Gutierrez also offers evening and weekend telehealth that fits around classes and works with teens and young adults, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent clients.

03

What Therapy Can Help With

Managing anxiety and overthinking, breaking perfectionism loops, building routines that work with how your brain works, exploring identity safely, and handling transitions like graduation and the first job.

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it is worth confirming your benefits before your first session. If you are out of network, the practice can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is therapy for college students available online anywhere in Texas?

Yes. Every session at Guiding Hope is held by secure video, and all of our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you can meet from anywhere in the state.

Do you take insurance?

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.

You Can Begin With a Conversation

A free consultation can help you ask questions, share what you are looking for, and consider whether one of our clinicians feels like a fit.
