Guiding Hope Counseling and Consulting

What We Treat

OCD Therapy

OCD is not about being tidy. It is about unwanted thoughts that will not leave and the exhausting rituals that seem to be the only way to quiet them.

01

Understanding OCD

Obsessive-compulsive disorder involves obsessions, which are intrusive thoughts, images, or urges that cause distress, and compulsions, which are behaviors or mental acts done to reduce that distress. Compulsions can be visible, like checking or washing, or entirely internal, like reviewing, counting, praying in a specific way, or seeking reassurance.

Intrusive thoughts often target what you care about most. That is why they feel so frightening, and why having them says nothing about who you are.

02

When Perfectionism and Faith Get Tangled In

OCD can overlap with perfectionism and with religious experiences, where the fear of having done something wrong becomes relentless. Ashley Gutierrez specializes in supporting high-achieving women navigating perfectionism, religious trauma, OCD, and anxiety, helping clients untangle those experiences and find balance.

03

How Therapy Helps

Therapy for OCD helps you understand the cycle between obsessions and compulsions and gradually loosen it. Your clinician will work at a pace you can manage, building skills to tolerate uncertainty without giving the fear the ritual it demands.

If you are also working with a medical provider, therapy can sit alongside that care. Guiding Hope does not prescribe medication.

04

Getting Started

The first step is a free consultation. It is a short conversation where you can say what is going on, ask how online sessions work, and hear which clinician may be the best fit. There is no obligation, and you do not need to have the right words ready.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is OCD therapy available online anywhere in Texas?

Yes. Every session at Guiding Hope is held by secure video, and all of our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you can meet from anywhere in the state.

Do you take insurance?

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.

You Can Begin With a Conversation

A free consultation can help you ask questions, share what you are looking for, and consider whether one of our clinicians feels like a fit.
