What We Treat

ADHD Therapy for Adults and Teens

ADHD is not a character flaw. It is a different way of processing the world, and it deserves support that works with your brain instead of against it.

01

How ADHD Shows Up

In adults and teens, ADHD can look like difficulty starting or finishing tasks, losing track of time, forgetting appointments, feeling constantly behind, and a restless mind that jumps from thing to thing. It often comes with strong emotions, sensitivity to criticism, and years of being told to just try harder.

Many adults, especially women, are not recognized as having ADHD until later in life, after years of compensating quietly and feeling like they are the problem.

02

How Therapy Helps

Therapy does not replace a medical evaluation or medication, but it can make a real difference in daily life. Work may include building systems for time and tasks that fit how you think, managing emotional overwhelm, reducing shame, and improving communication in relationships, school, and work.

Ashley Gutierrez specializes in affirming care for neurodivergent teens and adults and uses DBT and narrative therapy, both of which can help with emotion regulation and with rewriting the story ADHD may have told you about yourself.

What Guiding Hope Does and Does Not Offer

Guiding Hope provides therapy. We do not currently offer ADHD testing or psychological evaluations, and our clinicians do not prescribe medication. If you are seeking a diagnosis or medication, therapy can work alongside a provider who offers those services.

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it is worth confirming your benefits before your first session. If you are out of network, the practice can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is ADHD therapy available online anywhere in Texas?

Yes. Every session at Guiding Hope is held by secure video, and all of our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you can meet from anywhere in the state.

Do you take insurance?

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.

You Can Begin With a Conversation

A free consultation can help you ask questions, share what you are looking for, and consider whether one of our clinicians feels like a fit.
