01

What It Looks Like

High-functioning anxiety is not a formal diagnosis. It is a way of describing anxiety that hides behind competence. People around you may see someone organized, reliable, and driven, while you feel restless, tense, and afraid of dropping a single ball.

Common signs include overthinking conversations after they happen, difficulty resting without guilt, over-preparing, people-pleasing, trouble sleeping because your mind is running through tomorrow, and a sense that your success depends on never letting up.

02

Why It Is Easy to Miss

Because life still looks like it is working, high-functioning anxiety often goes unaddressed for years. It can be praised as work ethic. Many people only reach out when the cost shows up in their body, their sleep, their relationships, or a burnout they did not see coming.

Anxiety is Guiding Hope's primary specialty, and this particular form of it is one our team sees often, especially in professional women and high-achieving students and young adults.

03

How Therapy Helps

Therapy can help you notice the thought patterns driving the pressure, separate genuine responsibility from fear, and practice setting limits without feeling like you are failing.

Our clinicians draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness-based work, and DBT skills, adapted to your life rather than applied as a script. The goal is not to make you care less. It is to let you care without it running you.

Yes. Every session at Guiding Hope is held by secure video, and all of our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you can meet from anywhere in the state.

Do you take insurance?

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.
