Therapy in American Sign Language for Houston Residents

Ashley Gutierrez is fluent in American Sign Language and is deeply passionate about bridging the gap in mental health services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. Very few practices in Texas can offer therapy directly in ASL.

Houston is the largest city in Texas and one of the most diverse in the country, a place of long commutes, packed calendars, and people working everywhere from the Texas Medical Center to the energy corridor.

02

How Guiding Hope Can Help

Ashley works with teens 13 and older, young adults, adults, and couples on anxiety, identity, relationships, neurodivergence, and life transitions, and offers daytime, evening, and weekend telehealth. Video sessions suit signed conversation well.

03

Why Online Works in Houston

Video is a natural fit for signed conversation, and it means Deaf and Hard of Hearing residents of Houston can reach a signing therapist without traveling.

Every Guiding Hope clinician is licensed in Texas and meets clients by secure video anywhere in the state, so you choose a therapist for fit rather than for how close their office is.

04

Getting Started

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it is worth confirming your benefits before your first session. If you are out of network, the practice can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

The first step is a free consultation. It is a short conversation where you can say what is going on, ask how online sessions work, and hear which clinician may be the best fit. There is no obligation, and you do not need to have the right words ready.

What if I am in crisis right now?
