LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy for Houston Residents

LGBTQIA+ people bring the same concerns to therapy as anyone else, along with the specific stress of navigating family, faith, work, and safety as themselves. Affirming therapy starts from respect for your identity rather than treating it as the problem.

Houston is the largest city in Texas and one of the most diverse in the country, a place of long commutes, packed calendars, and people working everywhere from the Texas Medical Center to the energy corridor.

How Guiding Hope Can Help

Ashley Gutierrez specializes in working with the LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities. She believes therapy should be a space to explore identity, process transitions, and build resilience without fear of judgment, and she uses DBT and narrative therapy.

Why Online Works in Houston

Online sessions let you choose an affirming therapist anywhere in Texas and meet from a space in Houston where you can speak freely.

Every Guiding Hope clinician is licensed in Texas and meets clients by secure video anywhere in the state, so you choose a therapist for fit rather than for how close their office is.

04

Getting Started

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies from plan to plan, so it is worth confirming your benefits before your first session. If you are out of network, the practice can provide a superbill you may be able to submit for reimbursement.

The first step is a free consultation. It is a short conversation where you can say what is going on, ask how online sessions work, and hear which clinician may be the best fit. There is no obligation, and you do not need to have the right words ready.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LGBTQ+ affirming therapy available online in Houston?

Yes. Every session at Guiding Hope is held by secure video, and all of our clinicians are licensed in Texas, so you can meet from anywhere in the state.

Do you take insurance?

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare. Coverage varies by plan, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.

You Can Begin With a Conversation
