01

What a Superbill Is

A superbill is a detailed receipt for therapy sessions. It lists the dates of service, the type of session, the diagnosis and procedure codes your insurer needs, the fee, and your clinician's credentials. You pay the practice directly, then submit the superbill to your insurance company for possible reimbursement.

Guiding Hope provides superbills for clients who are paying out of network.

02

Questions to Ask Your Insurer

Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits? What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met? What percentage do you reimburse after the deductible? Is telehealth covered out of network? How do I submit a superbill, and how long does reimbursement take?

Plans vary widely. Some reimburse a meaningful share, and some reimburse nothing until a large deductible is met.

03

What Sessions Cost

Self-pay is welcome, and provisionally licensed clinicians offer a lower-cost option. Ask about current self-pay rates during your free consultation. The consultation is free.

Guiding Hope is in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and UnitedHealthcare, so if you have one of those plans you may not need a superbill at all.

What happens in the free consultation?

You share a little about what is bringing you in, ask any practical questions, and talk through which clinician may fit. It is a conversation, not a commitment.

What if I am in crisis right now?

Please call 911 if you are in immediate danger, or call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Guiding Hope offers scheduled outpatient therapy and is not an emergency service.

You Can Begin With a Conversation
